Years ago, Las Vegas travel deals were easy to come by and the city was known as a great destination for a cheap vacation. That changed when the mega resorts came in, but if you’re looking to visit Las Vegas on the cheap, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy your trip without breaking the bank.
It requires a bit more effort, but if you’re flexible and willing to invest extra time researching, you’ll be amazed at how affordable Las Vegas can be.

Las Vegas Travel Deals On Plane Tickets
Find deals on plane tickets by searching in advance and being flexible with your dates.
If you’re looking to save money on plane tickets—and let’s be honest, who isn’t?—we recommend buying in advance. The ideal window is roughly four weeks before you plan to visit. Tickets purchased this far in advance are about 10% cheaper than flights purchased closer to the departure date.
We also recommend checking out flights from smaller airports in your area. In most cases these airports have lower rates, are easier to navigate, and parking is cheaper.
It’s also helpful to note that January, February, April, and September are the cheapest months to score Las Vegas travel deals. On the other hand, March, July, and December tend to be the most expensive months.
The day of the week you fly also impacts your potential savings. Tuesdays and Thursdays are usually the cheapest days to fly, but Sundays are another affordable option. Arriving on these days also means you benefit from mid-week rates on your accommodations.
Finally, it’s worth noting that flights to Las Vegas were at historic low prices in the second half of 2020 and continued to stay low as we entered 2021.
Las Vegas Travel Deals On Accommodations
Paying less for your hotel means doing your research and comparing dates to get the best rates.
Now, we know what you might be thinking—the only hotel deals are off The Strip and away from the action. But that’s simply not the case. We love staying in the center of the action as much as you do. That’s why all of our recommendations keep you in the heart of Vegas and save you money.
As with flights, staying during the week is the best way to maximize your savings. During weekends, room prices can double or even triple. As long as there isn’t a big convention or major event in town, rooms will always be cheaper on weekdays.
That being said, there is one caveat to keep in mind, at least for the time being. Until the COVID-19 pandemic calms down, and travel returns to normal, many hotels and casinos are closed mid-week. We recommend contacting hotels directly to check if they’re accepting midweek bookings.
If you’re not sure where to start looking, we recommend looking at hotels off The Strip as they tend to be less expensive. We recommend:
- Palms Place - Located a mile west of The Strip, this condo-style hotel features stylish rooms, two pool areas, and lots of great dining nearby.
- Rio - Suite-style accommodations about a mile from The Strip. The rooms are spacious and good deals are plentiful.
- Marriott Grand Chateau - Just a five-minute walk from The Strip, but worlds cheaper than its neighbors. Has two pools (including one on the roof) and a massive fitness center. One of the few hotels without a resort fee.
- Platinum Hotel and Spa - The Strip is about a 15-minute walk away. Apartment-style rooms plus free afternoon wine and happy hour specials—what could be better?
Now, we love these hotels, but we understand that you may have your heart set on staying directly on The Strip. After all, lodging in the middle of the action is one of the best ways to experience everything Vegas has to offer.

- Harrah’s - This center-Strip hotel is located across the street from Caesars Palace and within walking distance of The Venetian and The LINQ. There are lots of budget-friendly rooms and cheap food options nearby.
- Flamingo - A Vegas icon with plenty of room types at different price points. The huge pool and the family section make this a great option for people traveling with kids.
- Bally’s - Right across the street from The Bellagio and Caesars Palace and one of the best deals on The Strip. The rooms could use a facelift, but the location more than makes up for it.
Once you’ve decided on a few dates and hotels, compare rates using an aggregate search engine like Expedia or Kayak. These sites check hotel rates from dozens of platforms and show you when and where the best deals are. Because when it comes to finding great Las Vegas travel deals, the more information you have, the better your chances of saving big.
Las Vegas Travel Deals On Food
Getting takeaway is one great way to save money on food costs while you’re in Vegas.
There are loads of fine dining options in Las Vegas, but if you’re on a budget, most of them are out of reach. But don’t despair! There are plenty of to-die-for restaurants that won’t break the bank.
For starters, check out some of these 25 for under $25 restaurants. Most of the meals average around $15, so as long as you don’t drink alcohol, your budget won’t be hurting too much.
You can also explore some of Vegas delis at lunchtime to save big on food costs. We recommend Canter's Deli in the Treasure Island, Carnegie at the Mirage, and Stage Deli at the MGM.
Be aware that as of January 2021, buffets are closed and restaurants are limited to 25% capacity. Dine-in service requires a reservation and allows for a maximum of four people per table.
Las Vegas Travel Deals On Alcohol
From free casino drinks to happy hour specials, you’ll be surprised all the ways you can save on alcohol.
Alcohol-related debauchery is a Vegas staple. After all, it’s not called Sin City for nothing. But seeing the wilder side of the Vegas action can get pretty pricey if you’re not careful. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to get your drink on without maxing out your credit card.
The first, and most important, thing to know is that drinks are free in most casinos. Yep, you read that right—free drinks in Vegas. As long as you’re gambling, casinos will give you alcohol gratis. Be sure to tip well and you’ll be surprised how great the service is on your free drink(s).
